The semaglutide injection is prescribed alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. It is for adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m² or higher, or 27 kg/m² or higher if they have at least one weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. To make the treatment more accessible, Emcure Pharmaceuticals announced a significant price reduction for Poviztra in April 2026. The cost was lowered by up to 55 percent, making semaglutide therapy more affordable for patients nationwide. The starting dose, which was previously priced at Rs 8,790 per month for four weekly doses, is now available for Rs 3,999 per month.
