When a supermassive black hole actively pulls in gas and dust, it becomes an AGN, releasing immense energy. This energy comes out as intense radiation, high-speed jets, and strong winds.^{[1][7][8][9][10][11]} This feedback can dramatically change the gas within a galaxy. It heats the gas or pushes it out, affecting the galaxy's gas reservoir. By doing this, black holes play a key role in how galaxies grow and change over billions of years.^{[1][7][12][9][10]} The mass of a supermassive black hole also strongly links to properties of its host galaxy, like the speed of stars in its central bulge.
